Order of Units

Component 1: Language, the individual and society - 1 exam [40% of final grade]

Students answer 3 questions based on analysis of two unseen texts (70 marks) as well as 1 question on Children’s language development (30 marks)

Component 2: Language, diversity and change - 1 exam [40% of final grade]

Students write one evaluative essay from a choice of either language diversity or language change (30 marks) and write one evaluative essay on language discourses (40 marks) and a directed writing task (30 marks)

Component 3: Non-examined assessment - Language in Action [20% of final grade]

Students complete a Language investigation of 2000 words (10%) and an Original writing and commentary of 750 words each (10%)

Suggested Resources All resources (including a textbook) are provided to students on confirmation of joining the course. 
Expected Homework Hours Per Week

Exams – It is recommended that you spend a minimum of 3 hours a week working on revision notes or researching around topics to secure your understanding prior to the exam. 

Coursework - Assignments and research is completed independently during Year 12 and it is essential that all coursework deadlines are met.
