Child Development
Following the global pandemic, there is a rising need for health and social care providers and early years practitioners. The demand for these professions has always been at the forefront of our society. Our curriculum aims to provide students with essential knowledge, transferrable skills and tools in a vocational context.
At Key Stage 3 we aim to develop our students knowledge and understanding through enriching opportunities, fostering a love for learning and ensuring key skills are nurtured, providing them with a foundation to access our Level 1/ Level 2 vocational curriculum.
The offer of work experience, real life scenarios and case studies plays a critical role in all courses at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, as students develop resilience, confidence and empathy skills as well as the application of theory into context which prepares students for life-long learning and employment.
The curriculum aims to help students develop a sense of self-worth, independence and the maturity to see the world through the eyes of others and to understand their place in the world. Overall, students will be given the opportunity to self-reflect about choices they make and how they affect others.
Our students have a passion for the subject and are motivated to achieve the highest grade possible, regardless of their ability. This offers them the opportunity to progress successfully from Key Stage 4 to Key Stage 5, higher education, and beyond into the health and social care and early years sectors.
We have a proven history of preparing our students to attain the qualifications they need to achieve successfully in the health and social care and early years sector, such as; teaching, social work, nursing, midwifery and paramedic science.
